Flying in Europe as a UK Pilot is not difficult, as the Universal language for Aviation is English - or so you would believe!
In some parts of Europe (Let's take France) you must speak the local language to be able to land at certain airfields, or at least have a basic grasp of the language to allow you to be able to land at a French Language Airfield.
For a European PPL of the country issued, as long as you do not cross a border into another country you can fly with only speaking the language of that issuing country.
Spain - Spanish. France - French for example.
There are so many cool airfields to visit in France there are no reasons for a French Pilot to venture from the borders of France if they do not wish to.
In this video, James from our language partners www.lingaero.com explain some of the basic French terms you will require when landing at some French Language airfields. It´s not conversational French just the basic standard commands to let everyone know where you are and what you are doing.
Flying is an adventure in itself, so why not take your skills further and learn a little more that takes that adventure up a notch? I´m learning as we speak.... so watch out for my updated video coming soon on YouTube to see how I get on! https://www.youtube.com/@Hour-Building
